PEACE STORY (or random acts of kindness)
                       and LIGHTING the PEACE LAMP

SCRIPTURE READING   Matthew 22:36-40 The Message (MSG)

L:  When the Pharisees heard how he had bested the Sadducees,
they gathered their forces for an assault. One of their religion
scholars spoke for them, posing a question they hoped would
         show him up:
P: “Teacher, which command in God’s Law is the most
          important?”
    L:   Jesus said,
All: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and
prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important,
the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it:
‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’
L: These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the
        Prophets hangs from them.”

*HYMN    “Love divine, all loves excelling” no. 592

SCRIPTURE READING    Mark 12:28-31   NRSV

28 One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
